The Street Rod Show: An Image Dump

Now my fellow Hoons know this olelongrooffan tends to run on with my posts and get all wordy. That ain’t the case this time. I am getting ready to head out on a road trip all around the Sunshine State culminating at the Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach next weekend. I just checked my email and it was determined a post was needed for this time slot. Well, this one was in draft form since April and this olelongrooffan determined it was good to go. So click through as see the rest of the stuff I saw while walking around with TheKenMan and Goldie that spring day.

A Day With TheKenMan: The Naples/Marco AACA Show At The Depot: “It’s A Lambo, Dude”

So, a whiles back this olelongrooffan posted here in the Redusernab some images of some pretty cool cars TheKenMan and I had seen while at an AACA car show here in toney Naples, Florida. In that post was this image of this sweet ole first gen Grand Prix. Several commenters had questioned what the yellow car in the background was. Well, as the title of this posts suggests, “It’s a Lambo, Dude.” Click on through to see a little more of it as well as the wonder just beyond it.

A Day With TheKenMan: The Roosevelt Edition

So this olelongrooffan was out at the AACA Naples/Marco Chapter’s show a whiles back and came across some pretty sweet old rides that I didn’t even know about. This was one of them. It is a Roosevelt, as in Teddy Roosevelt, Automobile. Any of my fellow Hoons seen one of these previously?

Truck Thursday: The Naples/Marco AACA Show Edition

So there this olelongrooffan and TheKenMan were at our third car show of that eventful 8 hour stretch one day last winter. We had already seen some pretty cool ass street rods out at the Seminole Indian Casino in Immokalee (sorry dead batteries and no place close by to get some more AA’s), spent a little time learning some more history about Ford’s Mustang at its birthday party and here at this exquisite show presented by the Naples/Marco Island branch of the Antique Automobile Club of America at the Naples Depot. Now this olelongrooffan must admit I was mistaken when I previously mentioned that no trains had run there since the early 80’s. They still run a kiddie scale train, much like the one TheGentleManFarmer had when I was a teenager, running around the perimeter of the grounds of this now train museum. But enough about that, we are here to chat it up about some trucks. For mere beauty, this 1934 Ford truck was the coolest one we saw there. Click on through to see more of it.

A Day With TheKenMan: The Naples/Marco AACA Show At The Depot, Chapter 2

LongRoofian September 29, 2014 All Things Hoon

So as this olelongrooffan mentioned last week, my buddy TheKenMan and I did the trifecta of car show goodness one day last winter and ended up at the Antique Automobile Club of America’s Naples/Marco Island chapter’s annual car show at the Naples depot. Now, other than the 1947 Club Car and the 1909 caboose they have on a section of track there, . The Depot does have a pretty kickass Lionel train layout should a Hoon choose to fork over a fin to gain acceptance. Needless to say, TheKenMan and this olelongrooffan were to cheap too fork over that kind of folding that day. We were, after all, there to see the free car show. And we did.

Fastback Friday: 1950’s Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe

So the other day this olelongrooffan was out and about just seeing what could be seen. It was on this excursion that I spotted this early 50’s era Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe and knew, at that moment, this fastback would be shared with my fellow Hoons on a Friday in the very near future. Click on through to see a couple more images of this vintage ride.

A Day With TheKenMan: The Naples/Marco AACA Show At The Depot, Chapter 1

LongRoofian September 25, 2014 All Things Hoon

Last winter, this olelongrooffan and my buddy, TheKenMan, did a trifecta of automotive show goodness. We attended three car shows in one day. We took in a muscle car show out in the middle of the Everglades at the Immokalee Seminole Indian Casino, attended the Mustang’s (17 of which are owned by TheKenMan) 50th birthday party at our local Ford dealer and to conclude our day, we attended the Antique Automobile Club of America local chapter’s annual show at the Naples Depot. Incidentally, the way I found out about this show is through the owner of this Dodge Panel Delivery. Yeah, he owns a company that does business with firm that pays this olelongrooffan enough money to put my daughter, TheSmartOne, through that college up on the Ringling Brothers Museum campus around mile marker 212 on Florida’s highway 93, otherwise known as I-75 on the Eisenhower Highway System. If my fellow Hoons are so inclined, feel free to click on through for some more automotive goodness.

Long Shots: 1956 Plymouth Savoy Sport Coupe

LongRoofian September 24, 2014 All Things Hoon

So, three, or so depending on when my Redusernab Overlords determine to publish this post, weeks ago, this olelongrooffan wrote up something for my fellow Hoons reading pleasure about a Porsche twofer I had spotted while on a run for some grub. In that post, I had asked what the reflection in the driver’s window of that silver 356 was.

Well, fellow Hoon and microcar loving mdharrel correctly identified the car in the reflection as a 1956 Plymouth Savoy. He did, however, misidentify the license plate that adorned the ass end of that old beast. My fellow Hoons are welcome to make the jump to see a few more images of this Savoy and determine the registration state of this coupe.

Hoonitales: Tangentally Related To Horsepower and A Chevy

LongRoofian September 19, 2014 All Things Hoon

A few years ago while this olelongrooffan was still living up in the Birthplace of Speed, thejeepjunkie clandestinely stopped by my Taj Mahal beachside on his way to pick up the Kid from basketball practice.

We shared a couple of those beverages emanating from the city with the Arch and got to looking at some old photos that were leaving my possession and being turned over to their proper owners on an epic Road Trip previously shared with my fellow Hoons.

Now this olelongrooffan has shared the fact I spent some of my formative years growing up on a farm just off Route 66 near Halltown, Missouri. Actually, just a country mile from some of fellow Hoon Marcal’s kinfolk.

Truck Thursday: 1941 Chevrolet Pickup Truck

So, a couple weeks ago this olelongrooffan was out and about just seeing what could be seen in this here upscale south Florida city that I reside in and, lo and behold, I stumbled across this sweet 1941 Chevrolet pickemuptruck. I was down at an automotive repair facility where this olelongrooffan spotted a PMYellow LaSalle a few years ago with my daughter, TheSmartOne. Yeah, Dr. Johnny and his kinfolk always seem to have something pretty sweet on their lot. This one was in fantastic shape and, notwithstanding the late model radials, looked to be in bone stock shape. Click on through, if it pleases my fellow Hoons, to see more of this desirable ride.
