The Griffith Series 200 by Automodello

Earlier today I brought up the topic of diecast cars and it was exciting to see what you guys had tucked away in your office or on display proudly in a full-size case. I mentioned that I had one more car to share with you and here it is. I present the inaugural offering from ; the Griffith Series 200 in 1:43 scale. This vehicle represents the first of many offerings from Automodello, and it is also the first Griffith Series 200 reproduced in any scale.

The Diecast Car

Die casting is a process by which molten metal is forced into a mold until they cool and harden into the desired shape. The process was invented in 1838 for use in the printing industry. However, you are probably more familiar with its role in creating scale versions of your favorite vehicles. From the affordable Matchbox and Hot Wheels brands up to the expensive Tamiya and examples, you can find any vehicle which you might desire. Are they mere toys or can they be considered works of art?

2011 Kia Sorento

One of my least favorite segments of the automotive industry is the mid-size crossover utility vehicle. I know it has practically become an automotive journalism cliché at this point but I love a good wagon. I see no reason to choose a tall wagon over one with a lower entry point and roofline. That being said, more automakers have recently figured out how to build better mid-size crossovers and I am finding it harder to complain about them.  A perfect example of this is the totally redesigned 2011 Kia Sorento.

I Hoon in the Land Down Under

Well…not me.

Most of you know that the term “hoon” originated in Australia. It can conjure mixed emotions down there since it refers to folks who drive recklessly. Here in the states we have adopted it and I feel it best describes someone who has a passion for driving. One Australian I can think of feels the same way… Redusernab reader Mark Goddard recently sent me some photos of his local Porsche club out for a drive. More photos and his description after the waltzing Maltida… … Continue Reading

2010 Lexus IS F

Comfort, subtle style, and luxury are three things that the Lexus brand has come to be known for. Aggressive noise and a pulse-quickening V8 engine are not. The 2010 Lexus IS F doesn’t simply ignore the cozy standards set by the rest of the brand – it screams past them at high-velocity leaving only the faint glimmer of quad exhaust tips and the deep bellow from the 5.0L V8 engine.

The Name is Vantage…V12 Vantage

Here at Redusernab we typically shy away from the glut of press releases. . However, some releases that cross my inbox deserve mention. Last week I received such a news item. Aston Martin makes beautiful, expensive sports cars and they have quite the stable as their lineup currently stands. You can choose from the V8 Vantage, DB9, Rapide, and the DBS. Recently, they added a new two-door into the mix by taking the much loved 6.0L V12 engine and ramming it into the engine bay of the Vantage. Sadly this car was not destined for US shores…until now.

Due to unprecedented customer demand, Aston Martin is giving folks what they want – a Vantage that screams forth with 510 hp, 420 lb-ft of torque, and a top speed of 190 mph. If the standard V12 Vantage is not exclusive enough for you, Aston Martin will let you order a special Carbon Black edition (similar to the available package on the DBS).

Lucky sonsofbitches customers who order the V12 Vantage can expect to take delivery starting in the 4th quarter of this year. The price is yet to be announced.

Hope the jump for another photo and a video clip I found on Youtube of Tiff Needell reviewing the car. … Continue Reading

Yo Dawg I Heard You Like to Caption Photos…

Leo (SVT2888) is a good friend of Redusernab and one of the main folks taking great shots at .

He captured the following vehicle in the parking lot of the recent Fabulous Fords show in Orange County, CA.

I don’t think Xzibit drove this to the event, but I can imagine his face plastered over photo shopped versions.

… make me proud.

The Uberbird Begins to Wake From Her Slumber

I’m at Casa_Science and the Bavarian Beast is getting some attention.

Oh the Wares in this House!

Friend of Redusernab MikeTheDog, who is in fact not a dog at all despite the confusing facial scruff, recently attended an automotive get-together at a Ypsilanti warehouse. It turned out not to be a collection of modded Z’s, BMWs with aftermarket wheels, and MkV Golfs with rusted hoods. No…this was a show. … Continue Reading
