Last Call: Headless Horseman Edition

Peter Tanshanomi October 31, 2018 Last Call 7 Comments

All of us here at Redusernab wish you a delightfully spooky Halloween. Just don’t end up in an ambulance this evening.

…Or headless, for that matter.

Last Call indicates the end of Redusernab’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

  • I had no idea that William John Wilgus (1819-1853) had returned from the grave to paint mural vans. Spooky.

I was just reading on Atlas Obscura about how the town of North Tarrytown, NY changed it’s name to Sleepy Hollow, because it was the model for Sleepy Hollow in Washington Irving’s story. I’m assuming that’s where this Ambulance is from.

There’s also a Rip Van Winkle Bridge (more Washington Irving) near there. The toll booth is designed to mimic the nearby Olana estate’s fantastic Persian-Exotic Victorian mansion.

I’ve lived near there (anywhere from 1/2 to 2 hours) my entire life. It’s a neat area…I need to explore it more. A good thing to look forward to doing next fall.

    • Sleepy Hollow does an annual Jack-O-Lantern Blaze where they set up displays of pumpkins and creepy scenarios. It’s pretty cool. Nothing like the haunted house maze thing that seems to be exploding all over. Very family oriented. Highly recommend.
