Simona De Silvestro signs with Australian Supercars Series

Exciting news this morning out of Australia that Swiss racing driver has signed a 3 year deal with the Australia series to compete in the series from 2017. De Silvestro, who has competed in Indy Car and Formula E, will drive for the in a Nissan Altima, will be the series’s first full-time female driver.

But before the 2017 Season begins, Simona will again compete at the Bathurst 1000 race as part of the team alongside Aussie driver . The pair will be competing this year in a Nissan Altima as part of new team deal.

    Glad to see she got the three year contract instead of all these short term ones. Now she can finally settle in and show the skill she has. I’ve been a fan of hers since she was in Indycar.

    • Yes the three year contract is a good start for her. Really gives her a chance to find her groove. Interesting to read overnight that Russell Ingall says that Simona will enjoy the Altima more than the Falcon. Ingall speaks from experience as he has recently driven the Altima.

    What (whose?) V8 is being shoehorned into the Altima? Also, last time I checked the Altima was FWD. (Of course, so are the Camry and the Fusion except when they’re in NASCAR)

      The VK56DE. Australia doesn’t like their utes as big as the Titan, so they usually only get it in the Patrol.
