Redusernab is Going to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas

Alex Kierstein December 31, 2010 In General 3 Comments

We've made some progress since the Dark Ages.

The New Year is fast approaching, and you know what that means? It’s almost time for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, one of the largest trade shows in the world. Technophiles rejoice! Nokia’s been nice enough to offer to fly yours truly out to the show for a few days to take a peek at some automotive electronics and technologies coming down the pipeline. They also handed over one of their handsets, the smartphone, for me to use to update you all from the showfloor. We’ll be cross-posting with our sister site, , so look for coverage starting next week coming to both sites, , and our related s.

The camera's no joke.

I’m actually pretty stoked about getting the N8 to use, because the 12 MP camera with Zeiss optics is, by any objective measure, one sick piece of kit. It also means I can leave my comparatively bulky Olympus DSLR at home, and my iPhone 3G (with its awful camera) in the room. Less gadgets on my person means much less of a headache for a blogger on the floor of an immense show. I’m not in love with Symbian, but this is a new version of the OS so we’ll see how it performs in Vegas. Plus straight-to-social-media software will make getting images of cool tech out from the show pretty simple. I may be a Hoon at heart, but I’m also a tech geek, so hopefully all of you can come along for the extended geek out with me over the next week.

Let us know what you think of the N8, I am kind of smitten with it.

Also, know that Alan Mulally is going to make a baller, crosspost-worthy entrance to his keynote address. (Though now that I see what the "official" car is of CES 2011, I suppose it isn't such a secret.)

I want wall-to-wall coverage of the "Random crap from China" wing. Everybody will be covering the big announcements but nobody ever covers the mountains of cheap crap "inspired" by those big announcements.

  • I stuck a "Lucas, Prince of Darkness" patch on the ass of my racing suit.

    It fell off.
